Frequently asked questions.
-
We get this question a lot. Sadly (actually, we’re pretty happy about it) we are not Vista Print. Unlike big online printers who can crank out standardized products by the thousands, we specialize in custom work. That means every project we print is a little different. Paper stock, size, color, finish, and bindery details can all affect the cost, and those material prices can change week to week.
Because of this, we don’t post fixed prices on our website. It would be like trying to list one price for every possible pizza topping combination. Instead, we provide personalized quotes based on your exact project specs, so you get the most accurate pricing (and the best results) every time.

Just reach out to us! You can send us a message using the Request Form, send us an email directly to info@potterprinting.com, or give us a call at (206) 623-8844.

We can accept multiple file types, but everything will ultimately be converted into a PDF. So, providing a high-resolution PDF is typically the best way to go. Ideally, we need an image resolution of at least 300 d.p.i. (dots-per-inch) at 100% zoom.

Yes we do! Oftentimes we can help with the design process, especially if you already have some design elements already set, like your logo.

Completion time depends on the complexity of the job and how many steps are in the process. Something like a simple business card can usually be turned around in a couple days from the day we have the paper, to something like 10-14 days for complex projects (a wedding invitation on thick cardstock, with an emboss design and foiling, for example). We will always discuss the timeline with you at the beginning of the process so that everyone knows what to expect.
-
Your timeline is something we will discuss at the outset and, yes, in some cases we are able to provide rush service. This will, however, depend on the complexity and number of steps in your project. Something like a standard business card or a brochure can potentially be turned around very quickly; whereas something more complex like a wedding invitation with foil and embossing will take longer. We will be sure to discuss your timelines at the beginning of the process so everyone’s deadlines can be met.
-
Yes! We do it all the time. You can either choose a spot color (a custom color from the Pantone Matching System), or we can recreate your colors with four color process, which combines tiny dots of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow ink in different ratios to create any color you’d like.
-
Yes we can! If your project is run on one of our offset printing presses, we can store the printing plates for future reorders. Also, in cases such as business cards, we will often store extra masters (the side with just the company name and logo), so we can print future orders with other names more quickly.
-
Yes, actually. While it’s not generally preferred, a few of our customers do supply us with their own paper. This is something you should discuss with us at the beginning of the process should you wish to do it.
-
Not necessarily. We don’t have a strict “minimum order,” exactly. Rather, the quantity you want to order may inform which printing method we use (offset, digital, or letterpress). High-quantity orders, for example, are typically best done on an offset press, while something with a very low quantity might be better suited to either digital or letterpress. This is something we’ll cover with you when we discuss your project.
-
In the event you cancel an order after we’ve already begun working on it, you will be billed for the time and materials used so far.
